The Positive Peer Influencer (PPI) Program is a partnership between the Mediation Center, SCCPSS, and the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team that trains high-school students to mentor middle-schoolers on resisting peer pressure and avoiding risky behaviors, especially substance use. Through open conversations about vaping, tobacco, alcohol, opioids, and fentanyl, mentors share real facts and model healthy decision-making while helping younger students feel heard and supported. The peer-led approach makes the information more relatable than traditional instruction, and as students move into high school, the relationships built through PPI provide continuity and positive role models during a critical developmental period.
